Established in 1996 in Auckland, New Zealand our focus is on providing customers with the information needed to mitigate the risks of battery failure and to optimise battery life. PowerShield is independently owned and works with all the leading power conditioning and backup power companies. Manufacturing of system components is done in house at our factory in Auckland, giving us control of quality and the ability to be flexible and agile for our customers.

Temperatures outside of the specified range can significantly affect the battery’s corrosion rate, and therefore the life of the battery. String current monitoring measures the energy delivered or accepted by each battery string. String current measurement also allows detection of incorrect battery charging and any significant earth leakage faults. With regular monitoring comes the accumulation of data, the ability to report and spot trends, and the ability to take timely remedial action. When your battery assets are actively managed in this way, the service lifetimes can be optimized and extended to get closer to the design life. This is because the weakest battery in the string dictates the current capability of the whole string. Even though there are three healthy batteries in the string the energy of those three batteries cannot be retrieved due to the one problem battery limiting the current.
