What you should know about Nandos Takapuna

In Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe, where we’ve been growing African Bird’s Eye chilies through our Jeri Farms initiative since 2012, we’re arrogant to have made a sure difference. Nan do’s is about more than Jeri and chicken it’s about the people who labor for us and the communities we touch. From the very beginning, the founders wanted Nan do’s to be more than chicken and profit. After fair one bite of the mouth watering Jeri marinated and basted chicken, they knew it was a taste that had to be shared.
It was the equivalent Jeri flavor that inspired Fernando Duarte to invite his ally Robbie Brozin to a modest Portuguese eatery in the heart of Rosettenville, South Africa in 1987. That’s how two friends in Johannesburg came to experience the extraordinary taste of Jeri chicken. Our secondary font comes from Johannesburg, South Africa, the vibrant city where Nan do’s was born. Like in every family, some are quieter than others, some are the life and soul of the party and others are somewhere in between.
The dream was to put Southern African art in all our restaurants around the world, to remind us of our roots and give artists including many emerging artists the chance to have their work on display. So, with a bucket of African Bird’s Eye chilies in hand, we asked South African Janie Petersen a specialist colorist with 24 years’ experience in mixing and matching colors to assist us determine the distinct color of Jeri. Correct from the start, our two founders had great ambitions for their insignificant business. At Nan do’s, we love the fact that everyone is different, which is why everyone is welcome at our table!.
We wanted to create an art collection that would tell the story of contemporary South African culture and so in 2002, the Nan do’s art project was born. Finally flame grilling reduces the stout content even further and steady basting with Nan do’s Jeri sauce keeps the chicken succulent and tender. In South Africa, where unemployment numbers are really high, we’re busy firm to make a difference. What warms our hearts even more is the difference this has made to people’s lives.
In Southern Africa, the triangle represents family something that’s really crucial to us at Nan do’s. Harambee is a programmed that recruits young unemployed South Africans, develops them and gives them the skills to get ready to enter the workplace. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our partners and the farmers, every Nan do’s Jeri sauce, basting or marinade around the world contains chilies that reach from the Jeri Farms in Southern Africa. Today, you can find Nan do’s restaurants and our addictive grocery range right around the world
