We work with New Zealand's leading marine designers and work closely with our clients to ensure the finished product exceeds all expectations. Allan Tongs Boat Building Yard predominately builds high quality, custom, one off motor yachts for both local and overseas clients. In our large, purpose built premises we employ a team of specialist, qualified boat builders, marine cabinet makers, painters and marine engineers. This gives us a broad skill base, including timber and composite resin infusion projects pictured lower right
It is very much in the conventional trawler style, with expansive bulwarks and the looks and character of trivial ship.
The design short for this particular design was for a sporty styled sedan that was aesthetically enchanting without looking too radical. Originally built for a preceding client by designer Bill unfold, West point was left partially completed in a shed for a number of years, until the current owner saw it, liked what he saw and commissioned Alan Tong Boatbuilders to total it. Blue Waterford There's a lot to be said for experience, so when an Auckland businessman went shopping for a designer and builder for his new boat he had insignificant hesitation in going straight back to those responsible for his preceding launch. The vessel had to perform healthy with limited power and have all round appropriate sea keeping ability. Easy living on one slick and generous accommodation for 8 in three cabins with master stateroom divide and stuffed width make this design accurate for extended family cruising.
When the luxury launch Countach went into the water three years ago she heralded the arrival of a fresh sophistication in huge launches in this country. The Australian based owners had already enjoyed 10 years of cruising and game fishing out of Western Australia in a Senior designed 40 footers, so when it came to finding a replacement vessel they had no hesitation in calling up the talented kiwi designer and asking him to draw what they wanted. We had no finest we had to go out! We met with Bill, his client and boat builder, Allan Tongs at West haven to have a walk over the boat earlier we set out in between passing fronts . Mistress, the fresh Don Senior designed sport fisher encompasses every one of the above. The hull form has generous chine beam medium deceased rise, with a nice entry developing into straight buttock lines in the aft sections.
THE NAME Te wharf comes from the Maori name for the Whangarei Heads, where the owner grew up and spent many happy times on the ingenious Te wharf, which was built for his grandfather back in 1919 by the famous Bailey Lowe partnership. Some boats are designed for cruising, some for passage making and some for entertaining or pensive sport fishing. Designed to perform healthy with moderate horse power, has an economic cruise of 21kts from twin 500hp Caterpillars. For Alan Warwick, Blue Waterford is the fourth commission for the owner, and for builder Alan Tongs it's the second boat this client has had built by his Auckland yard.
In both cases the harmonious relationship has extended to producing a crafts manlike vessel that is destined not only for local use and charter but also for offshore passage making. As is the case on most Auckland days, the dawn was spectacular but rapidly turned to the proverbial at around 9 a. Some boats are designed for cruising, some for passage making and some for entertaining or serious sport fishing. Longitudinal stiffness is provided by four box sectioned full length girders, which also act as engine beds
